Loyal Schools and Simplicity CU to Launch School Branch This Fall

There is SO MUCH happening at Simplicity CU this summer. Good thing we love sharing great news, huh?

Here's a press release we shared with some of our friends in the media last week, check it out!

July 15th, 2023 Marshfield, Wisconsin – Students at Loyal Elementary will learn important financial education and career skills in a whole new way when Simplicity CU launches their fourth school branch this fall.

The Loyal School Branch will be a deposit-only branch for Loyal Middle and Elementary students run by Eighth graders with oversite from Simplicity staff. Branch staff will have the opportunity to fill out a basic job application, experience a job interview, go through job training, and operate the branch each week. Job duties include counting money, record keeping, customer service, and marketing the branch within the school.

“It’s great to know this venture was approved by both the Loyal School District and Simplicity CU board of directors.” Ashley Landwher, Simplicity Financial Education Coordinator, said, “It demonstrates how much they care about equipping the students for the future.”

The branch will be open one day a week starting in October, and an account at Simplicity CU is required for students to participate. To encourage a healthy savings habit, the number of deposits will be tracked throughout the school year and when Loyal Students reach a combined goal of five-hundred deposits, Simplicity CU will donate $500 to the school.

Accounts can be opened in person at Simplicity CU’s Upham Street, Marshfield, or W. Division Street, Neillsville locations or online at simplicity.coop.

“We couldn’t be more excited and thankful to offer this incredible opportunity to our students to encourage them to save and to help them strengthen their money savings habits.” Says Jessica Zarnke, Loyal Financial Literacy Teacher, “The skills learned through this program will provide a solid financial foundation that can be built upon and carried into adulthood to create a strong financial future.”
